POCO India, Now Independent From Xiaomi
Last Friday - January 17, 2020, Xiaomi Global announced that their sub-brand Poco (also known as Pocophone) will henceforth be an independent entity and will have its own team and marketing strategy.
According to Xiaomi Global Vice-President Mr. Manu Kumar Jain, "#POCO will now be an independent brand! What started as a sub-brand within Xiaomi, has grown into its own identity. POCO F1 was an incredibly popular phone. We feel the time is right to let POCO operate on its own. Join me in wishing @IndiaPOCO all the best." [source]
Although POCO India has yet to make an official statement on its social media pages about this recent develoment, it is expected that the newly independent company will operate in a similar way as Realme, which used to be a sub-brand of OPPO and is now wholly independent with its own product releases and marketing activities.
Xiaomi's decision to give free rein to POCO India came in light of rumors circulating online about the imminent release of POCO F2, which is said to be the much awaited follow-up to the brand's first runaway hit, the POCO F1 from 2018.
