Xiaomi Redmi 5A Price in India Starts at INR 4,999: More Than One Million Units Sold in One Month
Marketed as "Desh Ka Smartphone" (translated from Hindu as "the country's smartphone"), Xiaomi Redmi 5A has just become the first best-selling smartphone of 2018 in India.
Mr. Manu Kumar Jain - Xiaomi's Managing Director in the said country - has just confirmed though this personal Twitter account that the company has managed to sell more than one million units of the India-Only handset within just a month of its release.
To quote Mr. Kumar Jain, "Thrilled to announce that we've sold 1+ Million #Redmi5A in less than a month! Thank you, Mi Fans for showering us with your incredible love and support!" (source)
The success of Redmi 5A merely reinforces Xiaomi's status as the #1 smartphone brand in India based on data gathered by IDC in Q3 2017. With this model's stellar market performance, it appears that the company will continue to stay on top in Q1 2018 -- unless one of its competitors manages to release a more popular handset within the period.
Clad in aluminum and donning affordable price tags, the two Xiaomi Redmi 5A variants - I would say - became best-sellers on the merit of giving consumers great value for money.
Both versions have a 5-inch HD IPS display, 13 MegaPixel f/2.2 PDAF rear camera with LED flash, 5 MP f/2.0 front cam, Full HD video recorder, Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, Dual SIM capability, and 4G LTE support.
The more wallet-friendly variant, which has 2GB of RAM and 16GB ROM, goes for a discounted price of INR 4,999 (~ $80 USD) while the 3GB RAM / 32GB ROM version sells for INR 6,999 (~ $110 USD).
FYI: Despite the fact that Xiaomi is a Chinese company, their Redmi 5A Android smartphones are all made in India! I think this is a great strategy to endear the brand to the Indian people all while taking advantage of affordable resources in India for crafting or assembling handsets.
