Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Officially Announced Across Asia

The 2017 iteration to the Korean Giant's Note flagship phablet line has just been officially announced in various countries in Asia, including the Philippines, India, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, United Arab Emirates, and China, among others.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is the follow-up to the infamous Galaxy Note7 of 2016, which has recalled by the company due to battery explosion hazard. This year, Samsung made sure - through strict tests - that the refresh won't suffer the same fate.

The Note8 introduces a couple of "firsts" to the popular Galaxy Note series. One of this is the all-new Infinity Display shown in the photo above.

Whereas previous models had a hardware home button in front flanked by two capacitive buttons, this one trades the spot for an even bigger display with a taller 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 sports a 6.3-inch Quad HD SuperAMOLED display panel, which looks downright gorgeous and brilliant.

Another "first" is the Dual Rear Camera module, which is made up of two 12 MegaPixel Dual Pixel cameras with varying f/1.7 and f/2.4 apertures and field of views. This set-up allows the Note8 to have 2X lossless zoom capability and to shoot images with interesting shallow depth of field look via 'Live Focus' mode in the camera app.

Of course, just like its predecessors, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has an S-Pen capacitive stylus -- but Samsung has improved this feature on this model by making the handwriting input more accurate and natural. Also, using the S-Pen, Note8 owners may now create GIF Live Messages as well as write and edit notes on the Screen without turning it on.

Under the hood, Samsung Galaxy Note8 runs its Grace-UI-skinned Android 7.1 Nougat operating system with a 64-Bit Octa Core 10nm Exynos 8895 processor that's complemented by 6GB of RAM for multitasking, and expandable storage starting at 64GB.

As for the price, this new model sells for around $930 USD in various territories. In the Philippines, it dons an official base price tag of Php 49,990 while in India, Note8 goes for 75,999 Rupees. The device should hit store shelves in key markets across Asia by mid-September 2017.
